After an eventful start to the day, I finally headed south towards the New Forest. I got lost twice, so my 2 hour drive turned into 3.5 hours. What an adventure! It wasn't so bad driving down the motorways singing along to songs such as Blue's 'All Rise' and Britney Spears 'Baby One More Time'. Did I just admit that? Oh dear... it was seriously fun though. I love taking drives alone, singing on the open road. It's relaxing.
I decided to go to a pub called The Lambs Inn, in a village called Nomansland. I didn't like the name of it, but the food sounded nice and I loved the name of the village.
I went for a bit of a drive on the way home and see the wild animals that live in the New Forest. There are wild pigs, horses and cows grazing by the side of the road. It is an unreal sight. I thought it was great until I was doing the 40 mile limit when a cow ran out in front of my car. I'm a girl from the suburbs, not a country girl. I stopped just in time but it gave me a fright!
Headed back to my motel and looked through some leaflets. Decided I was going to go to the Isle of Wight the next day.

Up bright and early this morning. 9am is early for a holiday! The B&B where I stayed provided me with a Full English breakfast to start the day... yum... I then set off for a bit of a drive around the New Forest for a bit before heading to Lymington (30mins away) to catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight. A horse was stood in the middle of the road. It wouldn't move, it just stood there and stared at me. The views were spectacular. So green and beautiful. There is an old fireplace standing in the middle of the forest heading towards Lyndhurst. Nothing else around, just the fireplace. The 30 minute ferry trip to the Isle of Wight. Beautiful sights. Walked around for few hours (legs are KILLING me now), then caught the open top bus (FREEZING, really should have taken scarf and gloves) and just generally explored and enjoyed the sights for the day.
Had a lovely dinner at the Bell Inn before heading back to the B&B after dark.
Tomorrow is time to head to Bournemouth to spend the day with Jenny and see her family. Will be staying at her place the night.

Continential breakfast this morning. I felt like I had woken up in France. Went for a little drive around the forest before heading to Bouremouth. Got lost, again but made it eventually.
It was great to see Jenny again. We went to Asda because I'm hopeless and hadn't bought Easter Eggs yet, and then went to Frankie and Bennies.... I do love that place. We don't have it in Aus.
We then went to Hengistbury Head. We caught a little outdoor train to Mudford Spit where there is a long row of colourful beach huts. They are worth about £125,000 - £145,000 + and they are tiny. Unbelievable. We also had ice cream despite the fact my hands and face were frozen.
After a bit of a drive and a stop for petrol, we came home. Jenny and I watched Home and Away. I sat on the longue while Jenny was dancing along to the characters on H&A dancing... was hilarious. We've spent the night pretending we are better singers than Ronan Keating, been entertained by Jenny's parents and been laughing over everything. It's good to be with friends.
I also love Grey' Anatomy.

Yay for Greys.
ReplyDeleteI will now reply properly, or as properly as my brain will currently let me. The New Forest is cool. The Isle Of Wight and the polar bear is cool. Bournemouth is cool. Hengistbury Head and the Bronze age sites are cool. Mudeford is cool. Trains are cool. My house is cool. The petrol station is not cool because it is is expensive. Asda is cool. Castlepoint is cool. Frankie and Bennie's is yum. Yum Yum. Please do not go home, I will miss you. :( and that makes me sad. Too sad to bear. Is this a better reply yet?
ReplyDeletePs If you fall I will catch you :P
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting... time after timeeee... We really are better singers than them all!
