Sometimes I get a little caught up in the grind of being here. Sleep, eat, work, sleep, eat, work. One piece of advice my cousin gave me before coming here was to always stay in the mindset that I am on holidays here, not that I've moved here or I'll just get stuck rolling through the paces, which is what I have done this week.So I took 'my' car in for its yearly service check today & went for a walk while I waited. Just up the road I saw this red phone box and all of a sudden I was reminded that I am a tourist here, not a permanent resident and things like the red telephone boxes are meant to be a big deal to tourists. So I snapped and photo and walked away, smiling because my entire life is a holiday at the moment. I doubt that makes sense to anyone else, but it was change inside me that happened. All from a Red Phone box, who'dathought?
I actually had breakfast at a pub this morning, tried the full English breakfast bap and I must admit it didn't taste that great! Lol I'm not keen on the taste of the meat over here, I may turn vegetarian for 2 years I think!
Yesterday was a fun day. It was around 24dgs celcius, and the sun had a nice bite to it. The kids, their mum and I all had water balloons fights around the back garden, and played 'hot potato' with the water balloons on the trampoline. I haven't been on one of those things in years, they are loads of fun. We stayed out til it was getting dark out, before coming inside, ordering pizza and settling down to watch Pirates of the Carribean. I'm ashamed to admit its the first time I have ever seen it (The kids 7th!).. was never a Johnny Depp fan before, but now I'm in love ;)
I also watched The Secret Life of Bees DVD earlier in the day while the kids were out with their Mum. It was soo emotional. I did shed a tear or two in some parts. I definitely reccomend it. What a cast, they were amazing especially Dakota!
Also very excited that my tattoo has almost finished healing so I can wear my new watch I got for my 21st, and new bracelets again at last! I felt slack not wearing them as they were all 21st gifts, but it was too painful. They are so pretty though.
Oh, and as a last (but not at all least) thought everyone should head over to http://www.southerngothicproductions.blogspot.com/ if you haven't already and watch the latest vlog, featuring Bibis Ellison. Everyone I know, knows that I am a live music nut. I tend to go for music that you can tell is sung from the heart. Bibis is not only a fantastic songwriter, but she has an amazing ability to sing from her heart, and overwhelm you with her voice. SGP are taking Bibis under their wing, I can't wait to hear more from this girl. Stay tuned to the blog to learn more about SGP and Bibis...
Eli

Hey Elise! That is so strange about the red phone box. I had the same experience when I went to Seattle this last weekend. I've been there a million times, but for some reason ... SGP I think ... I started to feel like a tourist and began snapping pictures. It was an amazing feeling ... unbelieveable! It filled me with a feeling that I haven't felt in a long time.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing. It's nice to know that there are others out there who get overwhelmed by strange (but awesome) feelings at times too ;)
Smiles,
Angie
