Saturday 4th April - Hopped in the car today with the intention of finding a National Park type area. What I found blew me away. The grasslands were packed full of people, there was a tiny cafe made inside an old shed with grass growing on its roof and tracks in the woodlands.
Just after I entered the National Park, I heard a buggy coming up (like the scooters the elderly use to get around). I of course moved out of the way to let her past. I had no idea this lady would forever remain etched in my mind.
We both stopped at one of the wooden sculptures that are carved and on display. This lady, Dorothy, in her 80's asked what I thought the carving was of. We tossed ideas around together and then spent the next 2 hours walking and talking around the woods. We spoke about all sorts of things before we sat down at the little shed cafe and had a coffee. Dorothy insisted she pay for my drink.
I do hope I see Dorothy down at Burnham Beeches again, but if I don't I feel blessed that I was able to spend the afternoon with such an amazing, beautiful lady. She has opened my eyes to a whole new world.
A few photos from today for memories sake.

These are beautiful. It's so cool that you got to meet such a great woman. People tend to be impatient with the elderly. Nice to see you guys get on so well.
ReplyDeleteThe pics and story are both beautiful. It's rare in this world to see people taking time just to be together, talk and meet...Glad you made this experience and shared it with us!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story and an amazing day. Your pictures are beautiful as well. I love it how people come into our lives expectedly but the change us and encourage us in their own ways. You did a marvelous job telling your experience with Dorothy too. I'm so glad you're having a good time there.
