R.I.P Robby <3
What an incredible almost 2 months it has been since I last blogged.
Alot happened in December, and alot didn't. Christmas happened for one which was both an amazing day, but a hard day. I got to see and talk to my Dad and his whole family on Christmas Day on Skype! It was 3am Christmas morning here and lunchtime there but it was so worth the lack of sleep. I was introduced to my new baby cousin, Jessica who was almost 5 weeks old on the day. I kept myself quite calm and composed until they brought Jess to the webcam and I started bawling my eyes out!! She is so beautiful and tiny. I got to see my Grandad, Nan, Aunty, Uncle, my 4 cousins, 3 of their partners, the 4 kids, my Dad, brother and step mum. It was AMAZING. I even got to hear my three little doggys yapping away in the background.
Spent Christmas morning here with my Au pair family then drove down to Bournemouth to spend the afternoon/evening with my best friend and her family which was lovely. I was so spoilt.
I came back here for a few days then went back to Bournemouth for New Year. Nothing was happening for New Years as they were doing Bournemouth birthday celebrations on New Years Day instead so we stayed in, ate popcorn, I spoke to my family on the phone for hours and we watched TV. Quietest New Year of my life but it was nice. I was hoping this would mean a quiet 2010 but that is just asking the universe for too much.
2 new Au pairs arrived on camp just after New Years and they are both lovely. One is an Aussie from Melbourne and one a Canadian. It's nice to have people to socialise with! My weekends of staying in bed for 48hrs because I'm bored and dont want to travel alone are gone! We are currently planning a road trip to Bath for 2 weekends time. I am really excited to see the Roman Spas and all of the other amazing architecture I have heard Bath has to offer. Should be great!!
So everything was running along smoothly until around 10 days ago. I do apologise to everyone for being a moody, emotional wreck the past week and a half! I explained to some people but not others.
Basically my little cousin (19, one of the ones I spoke to on Skype Christmas Day) was in a serious car accident on Wednesday 13th January. He was in a very bad way and placed into a drug induced coma for around 36hrs I think it was. It took them an hour and a half to cut him free from the car using the jaws of life and he was airlifted to hospital whilst in and out of consciousness. It was a bit scary for a couple of days there with him being unable to wake up, being hooked up to breathing tubes etc BUT he is doing SO incredibly well now. He came through both of his surgeries well and was out of ICU in 4 days (doctors predicted it would take weeks!). Basically all that he needs to do now is heal his broken bones (he injured his shoulder, broke his elbow, hip, femur, shattered his knee cap and lost front teeth!!) and go through months and months and months of rehab. I feel SO blessed that he is still alive. The injuries he sustained, it is a real miracle. He is a fighter that boy and I am soo proud to call him fammily. I am so proud to call my entire family my family as they have been amazing throughout this whole ordeal, being strong for him and each other and still keeping me updated every 12 hours whilst I am on the other side of the world.
Exactly a week after the accident I recieved another phone call from my Dad saying he had more bad news. My 10-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, Robby, passed away :( Unless you are a dog person and have had one you can't understand how much they mean to you. Robby was a very huge part of my life and meant the world to me. I remember as an 11-yr-old kid I would carry him around in the front pocket of my overalls. He was the most lively, vocal little guy and although he drove us (and our neighbours) crazy, I always said I couldn't imagine my life without him in it. So now I have to face it. He had a few health issues since he was a pup and we knew he wouldn't live a full 15/16yr life but I was hoping he would hang on until I got home. At least he went peacefully in his sleep.
So it has been an a very emotional week and a half that I hope to never have to live through ever again. I didn't know a body could produce so many tears...
Right now I feel blessed to have my cousin still in my life, and I feel blessed to have had 10 AMAZING years with the worlds most funniest, loyal and fun dog.
In saying that, please universe give me a fucking break from this sadness!!! I can't handle anymore of it.
